Yuriy Pryiemskyi has been involved in numerous restaurants in the Ukraine – which probably explains why his current operation reflects the cuisine of so many different nations.
Hey Guys draws its inspiration from Italy and other areas of Europe – and not surprisingly also from his native Ukraine.
His style is to cook simple food but at the same time bringing together different cuisines and flavours in perfect harmony.
After graduating from culinary school and the University of Trade and Economics – a useful skill for an owner/chef – Yuriy worked in Italy, the UK and Latvia.
His resume in the Ukraine is equally as impressive, with involvement in Ok Bar, Nobu, Odesa and Spicy No Spicy.
Yuriy himself is inspired by different chefs, He admires their books, their kitchen organisation and their philosophy: “Heston Blumenthal, for me, is the most amazing and creative chef, who’s food is the best I’ve ever tasted,” he said.
As well as running Hey Guys, his mission is to inspire the next generation of chefs and show them that it’s entirely possible to grow from being
a cook to a great chef, then go on to run your own kitchen and even become a successful restaurateur.
And who wouldn’t believe him? After all that’s exactly what he’sdone!
